Great Indian Wedding.. 3 (with some blah)

Its Invitation time...

Its a stressful period when your memory and logical reasoning sense is tested. You need to know all your relatives including their relatives. 'n' no. of family tree chats are drawn mentally which by the end of all the rendezvous gets entwined. Had a short trip to Nashik where my dad's extended family resides. Sadly my sis, the bride, could't accompany us b'cos of her work:(.

because of which most of the uncles and aunties thought I was the Bride... it was a task clarifying it to everyone.

Got the opportunity to interact with some of my ( elder...say age 27-28 ) 'cousins'. Had weird conversations with them.. some of them being...

The wise Cousin: What are you doin these days?

Me: Just finished my MBA in HR..searching for a job.

The wise Cousin: You have done B.Com no.... so u SHOULD have taken up Finance.

Me: no.. yaar .. i was't really interested in Finance

The wise Cousin: No... Still u SHOULD have taken up Finance (now it was a command).

Me: (Arey ... yeh kya baat hui)..NO.. i m NOT interested... and anyways i was ALWAYS interested in HR, also was workin as a recruiter for a year... so... my interest grew deeper.

my feeble attempt to enlighten her with the fact that interest is also an important factor to make a career decision. am not sure if she was satisfied with my reasoning...

10 mins later...

One of the oldies: Beta... now u are next in line for marriage.. within a year you will also get married...

Me: No Aunty... i dont wanna get married so soon .. i wanna work for a couple of years..then maybe think abt marriage..

The wise Cousin: NO..No.No... This is the right age to get married. You MUST get married now.. so that within 2 yrs you will have your first child and then after that within a span of 2 yrs you'll have your second child. that is... by the time you are 30 you will be done with most of your parenting...

Me:... huh?!@##$ (tryin to co relate her priorities in life with mine..) ... no akka ... i dont really want to get married when am 23....actually... i feel...( was abruptly cut in between..)

The wise Cousin: NO... i am say so.. cos when have your first child in your 20's you still have the stamina... and if you have kids within the gap of 2 yrs you'll be in teh habit of lukin after kids of that age... its form personal exp you c...

Me: ...(ab main kya bolun... she was talking with a tone tainted with confidence, dominance and arrogance... as if GOD himself landed from the Heavens and whispered into her ears)

She may have a point.. but something that suits her not me.. I felt that she failed to understand that parenting does't end when your children are 2-3 yrs old... it continues till they are independent. I personally dont feel it is mandatory to have kids before 30...

my plan... marriage before 27-28... first kid before 30... (in order to avoid biological complications) and 2nd kid (if applicable) before 33-34..

Apart from weird conversations was the amazing food... hmmm... yummm.. Maharashtrian food rocks.. bhakhri, thecha, bengan ki bhaji, vada pav...yum yum..
