Working is fun. I love my Job. I wanted this all my life and here i am. I have worked very hard to reach here.All izz well.- This is what i tell my heart.
This is not a real job ...its just a project, i'll be gone in a few weeks.But this is what the really corporate world looks like. Work would be my priority, will be at office most of the time and will have little or no time for my family, friends or myself. And I worked like a dog for all THIS?
GHANTA...All izz well.
This is not what i want... do I? Lets Analyse..
I want to be independent. check
I want to earn well to secure my future. check
I dont want to be a house wife all my life. check
But what abt the other things that i want...like spend time with my loved ones, paint, cook, swim...errhhh! What would happen when I get married? and when I have children? I cant afford to come home at 10pm and then again leave by 7 in the morn.....
Place where i am working right now is OK. Its a gr8 company to work with. I kno people who would kill to be a part of it. People work till like 10 in the night and are back in office by 9 next morn.But there is no life when work becomes ur life. wats the point of living? wats the use of living like this?
I dont want such a life. NEVER!
Was arguing with my guide the other day. Acco to him we Indians are extremely adaptable. We can work all day long .. thats the reason why India is progressing.
Really? I thought it was because of our fantastic education system, liberalization supported by globalization.But i didn't wanna argue. Some how the concept of India progressing purely because of working overtime doesn't get me. I feel overtime is a sign of inefficiency- you are working overtime because you didn't finish it on time. (its arguable)
The work life i am aiming for is the normal 9-5 job. where i work for 8 hrs and go home. I kno am being impractical but i'm sure there are companies who respect pple's time.
The search is on...
guess India is progressing cos of doing overtime! ofcourse not the way u put it. overtime here doesn’t mean being inefficient. it just shows the fantastic trait of an Indian manager who fails to say “No” to any amount of work assigned to him. Clients are happy, we get the job!
ReplyDeletei wont deny wat u say... but dont u feel somewhere work n personal life get imbalanced because of this 'work culture'. At the end of the day no1 would agree that they are working overtime becos of their inefficiency,also it is possible that they are tellin the truth. The end result is the becos of a handful of pple the entire org is expected to work for longer hrs.Is it fair?
ReplyDeleteI never said that it is fair! when Obama announced that he is gona impose tax on the companies which outsource american jobs, the indian stock market crashed! during the 2 yrs of recesion, almost all sectors including the reality sector got hit in india. mind you, all the navaratna companies and the govt firms were doing good at that time. still it affected our market. a study on indian market suggests that the financial secotr majorly depends on the jobs that are outsourced/offshored to india. the reasons maybe varied, but the reality cannot be overlooked! :)
